Google Revolutionizes User Experience in Ads with Innovative Designs! A few months back on March 2, 2023, Google just increased the excitement of the digital world by unveiling their groundbreaking announcement, stating that they were testing new designs for Google Ads based on user feedback regarding navigation and overall user-friendliness.

The testing phase consisted of two designs that aimed to reorganize pages into more thematically linked groups, offering users a quicker and easier experience while performing various tasks in Google Ads.

After some careful evaluations, Google has determined a winner: the new Google Ads design featuring a main menu positioned on the left side of the screen. This menu categorizes pages into five high-level categories, namely:

  • Campaigns: Allows you to analyze, optimize, and manage your campaigns.
  • Goals: Provides tools to define, monitor, and update your conversion goals.
  • Tools: Offers various tools for planning, bidding and budgets, troubleshooting, and more.
  • Billing: Monitors your spending and payments.
  • Admin: Manages your team, security, and account settings.

So, did you like this enhanced level of categorization that has proven to be more effective for both new and experienced advertisers?

Accordingly, if you sign in to Google Ads today and notice a slightly different menu design, it is because of this update. With the winning design identified, Google will transition all users from the experimental designs to this new layout.

If you have not yet experienced the Google Ads new design, you can expect to see it implemented before the end of the year. However, during the holiday season, you will still have the option to switch back to the previous design if needed.

Google acknowledges that there is still work to be done based on user feedback. Here are some key takeaways from the feedback received:

  • Adjusting to change: Users have expressed that they require time to adapt to the new design when switching between the new and previous Google Adwords layouts. To accommodate this, Google will continue to offer the option to switch between the designs until 2024, understanding the time constraints faced by users.
  • Workflow improvements: The importance of the search terms report for keyword management has been emphasized by users. Google is actively exploring ways to enhance the connection of Google Ads workflow across different pages. The discovery of Google Ads campaign settings is being reviewed for improvements.
  • Navigation space: Google recognizes the need for users to have ample screen space to view and take action on their data. While the navigation elements occupy some of this space, it is necessary for accessibility purposes, including increased font size and spacing. However, Google is actively investigating alternative solutions such as enhancing menu responsiveness on smaller screens and providing users with more control over spacing, similar to the options available in Gmail. If immediate space is needed, users can collapse the menu by clicking the hamburger icon ().

Hold your breath as Google boldly pioneers this transformative path, revolutionizing the way we navigate and engage with the digital landscape of Google Ads.
