Key points to be discussed today

  1. What are expanded text ads?
  2. How are they different from responsive search ads?
  3. Why are expanded ads getting removed?

Before we start with today’s blog about why there is a need to remove expanded text ads from Google AdWords, we should be well aware of what expanded text ads exactly are and how they are different from responsive search ads while we make the ads.

What are Expanded Text Ads?

Expanded text ads are nothing different from other text ads but there are a few differences in expanded text ads which are as follows

EXPANDED TEXT AD

How are expanded text ads different from responsive search ads

Responsive search has the ability to accommodate more number of headlines and descriptions and the advertiser is not bounded with the content and the point of view which he/she has to present while preparing google ads but here as we saw above there are less number of headline and description fields.

Through this table we can compare them further

Now let’s talk about the main topic EXPANDED ADS GETTING REMOVED FROM GOOGLE ADWORDS?

By the end of June and beginning of July you will no longer be able to create expanded text ads as it was announced by the product manager of google ads. The existing expanded ads will still continue to be served and we can still pause, resume and can even remove them but will no longer be created. This is the latest move to be taken by Google and it is recommended to have at least one responsive search ad in every search campaign if we were using expanded text ads.
